I’ll be teaching a 3-day workshop this Fall at Evergreen Fine Art. The workshop will be limited to just 8 artists in order to maximize the amount of individual instruction – so sign up early!

Landscape Painting: Color, Light and Atmosphere

This 3-day workshop is for all levels and will focus on painting outdoors. Artists will learn to quickly gather the necessary visual information needed to complete a painting in the field. Learning how to simplify a landscape and interpret color relationships will be a primary focus of this workshop but other fundamental concepts will also be discussed including: how to compose and design a landscape, and the importance of values, shapes and edges.
Each day will involve painting outdoors in the morning and afternoon where there will be brief demonstrations and personal instruction. The middle of the day will be reserved for indoor slide presentations and critiques. The class has been limited in size to allow for the maximum amount of one-on-one instruction.

“Plein Air on the Rim”
I’m looking forward to once again being part of this annual event.
It’s an honor to be one of thirty plein air artists selected to paint along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in a competition, quick draw, public auction, exhibition and sale.

Artwork completed during the event will be on display at
Kolb Studio on the South Rim until November 27th.

I’ve been invited to paint once again in beautiful Crested Butte, Colorado as part of the inaugural Crested Butte Plein Air Invitational organized by Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery. Artists will paint in and around Crested Butte from July 2 – July 14, 2011. Paintings completed during this time will be on display at Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery for a show & sale with a public opening on Friday, July 15th, 2011 from 5PM–9PM.

So if you’re planning a summer trip to Crested Butte keep an eye out for me and my work.

RMPAP has announced that Wild Spirit Gallery in Pagosa Springs, Colorado will be hosting the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters 10th Anniversary National Show. Along with 42 other artists, I will be painting in and around Pagosa Springs from July 27 – August 7, 2011.

See some of my latest paintings at the 20th Annual Colorado Governor’s Invitational Art Show at the Loveland Museum, Loveland, Colorado. I’ll have four paintings available for purchase at the show, including Trail Ridge and Lake of Glass.

Over 40 of the regions finest artists come together to donate half the proceeds of the sale of over 100 pieces of artwork to the land conservation programs of Legacy Land Trust. The show is a great indoor event in town for the chillier time of year!
