Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery • Crested Butte, CO • July 2 – July 22, 2011

I’ve been invited to paint once again in beautiful Crested Butte, Colorado as part of the inaugural Crested Butte Plein Air Invitational organized by Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery. Artists will paint in and around Crested Butte from July 2 – July 14, 2011. Paintings completed during this time will be on display at Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery for a show & sale with a public opening on Friday, July 15th, 2011 from 5PM–9PM.

So if you’re planning a summer trip to Crested Butte keep an eye out for me and my work.

Wild Spirit Gallery • Pagosa Springs, Colorado • July 27 – August 7, 2011

RMPAP has announced that Wild Spirit Gallery in Pagosa Springs, Colorado will be hosting the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters 10th Anniversary National Show. Along with 42 other artists, I will be painting in and around Pagosa Springs from July 27 – August 7, 2011.

Loveland , Colorado • April 23, 2011–June 5, 2011

See some of my latest paintings at the 20th Annual Colorado Governor’s Invitational Art Show at the Loveland Museum, Loveland, Colorado. I’ll have four paintings available for purchase at the show, including Trail Ridge and Lake of Glass.

Over 40 of the regions finest artists come together to donate half the proceeds of the sale of over 100 pieces of artwork to the land conservation programs of Legacy Land Trust. The show is a great indoor event in town for the chillier time of year!

Dave won the Judge’s Award for Overall Artistic Presentation and Consistency at the 2nd Annual Grand Canyon Celebration of Art. This event featured thirty artists from across the country in the Plein Air on the Rim competition and show.  A catalog from the event may be purchased here.

Dave Santillanes has been chosen to participate in the 2010 Grand Canyon Celebration of Art at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.

“Plein Air on the Rim”

Thirty plein air artists from across the country will participate in a competition, quick draw, public auction, exhibition and sale on the South Rim.
Sept. 11-18, 2010
Artwork will be on display at Kolb Studio until November 28th.

See my latest studio painting, Thunder Pass, at the “Celebration of Rocky Mountain” show at Reily Fine Art in Estes Park, Colorado. This premier show will feature large masterworks by 21 artists depicting Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding areas of Roosevelt National Forest and Comanche Peaks Wilderness. Some of the proceeds from the show will benefit the Rocky Mountain Nature Association.

The Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters National Event in Crested Butte, Colorado turned out to be an enormous success. The gala show for this event took place at Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery and featured over 250 paintings from 45 of the best plein air painters in the country.

Two of my paintings (pictured above) received awards at the event. Thunderclouds Over Red Mountain received an Award of Merit and Late Afternoon Near Crested Butte was voted People’s Choice.
